TORONTO, ON: July 14, 2026
The Canadian Philanthropy Awards, powered by Beneva, is proud to launch a new national programme celebrating the people, families, businesses, and organisations whose generosity strengthens communities across Canada.
Developed to recognise the many ways Canadians show up for one another, the Canadian Philanthropy Awards will honour outstanding contributions across seven distinct categories. From dedicated volunteers and grassroots leaders to philanthropic families and socially engaged businesses, the programme shines a spotlight on the individuals and organisations making a meaningful difference in their communities.
"We wanted to create a national stage for the quiet, consistent generosity that sustains our country from coast to coast to coast," says Nick Jelinek. "By partnering with a network of over 200 community foundations, we are ensuring that recognition starts exactly where it belongs: in the local community."
"At Beneva, we believe strong communities are built when people come together to support one another," said Martin Robert, Executive Vice-President and Leader, Talent, Culture and Communication at Beneva. "Being actively involved in communities across Canada is an important part of who we are. By helping strengthen the social safety net that supports so many individuals and families, we contribute to healthier, more resilient communities. We are proud to support the Canadian Philanthropy Awards and help recognize those whose generosity creates a lasting impact."
Designed to reflect the diversity of communities across the country, the programme is guided by the expertise and nationwide philanthropic leadership of Community Foundations of Canada. The recognition process, led by an independent committee, is rooted in local perspectives and community impact, helping ensure that recipients are selected through a thoughtful and credible approach that reflects the realities of the communities they serve.
The inaugural year will begin with a founding group of community foundations from across Canada. Nominations open 14 September 2026 and close 31 October 2026, inviting Canadians to nominate the individuals, families, groups, and businesses making a difference in their communities.
