All kinds of giving.

Time, talent, and treasure. The Canadian Philanthropy Awards, powered by Beneva, recognises the Canadians who give to their communities and rarely get thanked for it.

Illustrative honouree

Margaret Chen taught grade four in Guelph for thirty years.

She retired in 2003. Twenty-two years later, she still spends Tuesday mornings at the public library.

She knows which of them are too embarrassed to bring their own books, so she keeps a stack behind the desk.

Her community nominated her this spring.

An illustrative honouree. Real stories will follow in year one.

Philanthropy

Missing

We have not made the same kind of public place for people whose giving is local, quiet, and steady.

The Canadian Philanthropy Awards changes that.

How it works

The Canadian Philanthropy Awards in four steps.

  1. Commend

Anyone can nominate someone in their community through a local Community Foundation.

  2. Choose

Each participating Community Foundation chooses local honourees. Individuals, families, groups, and businesses are eligible.

  3. Carry

Local honourees are considered for national recognition by an independent national selection committee.

  4. Celebrate

Two to four honourees receive national recognition each year.
